2nd Staefa Reunion a HIT!
By all accounts, everyone had a great time
at the 2nd Staefa Reunion on Sunday, August 24th 2003 at De Anza Cove
on San Diego's beautiful Mission Bay. It was nice that the weather cooperated;
the famous San Diego sunshine was very much in evidence, along with a
cool breeze which kept the temperature quite comfortable. An estimated
40 - 45 Staefa "survivors" enjoyed a potluck lunch and endless
conversation, punctuated by spirted games of volleyball and bocce ball
throughout the day.
Thanks to all those who attended for making this such a memorable event.
For those who couldn't attend, know that you were missed.
A special thanks is due to Mike Fey, David and Ann Balmin, Mike and Stacy
Adelman, and my wife Karen for helping with the setup and tear down. Mike
Fey and I staked out a prime location next to the beach at 7am in anticipation
of hordes of picnickers invading De Anza Cove on a picture-perfect San
Diego summer day. As it turns out, there was ample parking for everyone
who attended, and plenty of room for activities.

above). If you attended and took pictures with a digital camera, and wouldn't

By popular demand, another picnic-style reunion will be scheduled for
next summer. A happy hour has also been suggested for sometime during
the winter months. Any and all ideas and suggestions are welcome for planning
the next event(s).

Directions:
Take I-5 Freeway to Clairemont Drive exit. Go west on Clairemont Drive to intersection with East Mission Bay Drive, in front of the Visitors Center. Go north on E. Mission Bay Drive about 1/4 mile, then turn left into DeAnza Cove parking lot.
